Energy Auditor
We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Residential Energy Efficiency Auditor to assess homes for energy efficiency improvements. The auditor will conduct on-site energy assessments, analyze energy consumption, and provide recommendations to homeowners to reduce energy use and costs. This role requires a strong understanding of building systems, energy conservation measures, and excellent communication skills to educate clients on energy-saving solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Energy Audits: Conduct comprehensive residential energy assessments, including inspections of insulation, HVAC systems, windows, and appliances.
- Data Collection & Analysis: Utilize diagnostic tools (blower doors, infrared cameras, combustion analyzers) to evaluate energy loss and identify efficiency opportunities.
- Customer Education: Provide homeowners with clear, actionable recommendations for improving energy efficiency, including insulation upgrades, air sealing, and HVAC improvements.
- Report Preparation: Develop detailed energy audit reports outlining findings, recommended improvements, potential energy savings, and available rebates/incentives.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure audits meet industry standards (e.g., BPI, RESNET, DOE guidelines) and comply with local, state, and federal energy efficiency programs.
- Collaboration: Work with contractors, utility companies, and program managers to support energy efficiency initiatives and incentives.
- Follow-Up & Support: Assist homeowners in implementing recommended energy-saving measures, including guidance on rebate programs and financing options.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in energy management, environmental science, construction, or a related field preferred.
- Certifications: BPI (Building Performance Institute) or RESNET certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Experience: 1-3 years of experience in energy auditing, home inspections, or a related field preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of residential building systems, energy efficiency principles, and weatherization techniques.
- Ability to use energy diagnostic tools and software.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple audits per week.
- Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for on-site assessments.
